DISINFECTION AND
SANITATION
I. MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT

Soap and water

1 covering container with label and tight fitting
lid
-
Brush
-
Gloves
-
Quarts: 1oz
II. PROCEDURE
A.
DISINFECTANT AND SANITATION PREPARATION:
1.
Wash hands
2.
Setup table
3.
Container: Enough to thoroughly immerse all the
implements.

Take water give up 1/2 container
§
Add 1oz quarts
B.
PROPER DISINFECTION AND SANITATION TECHNIQUES:
1.
Wash hands
2.
Setup table
3.
Demonstrate the techniques of disinfection and
sanitation
+ Non-electrical implements with sharp point or
non-sharp point:
a.
Scrub each implement with a clean brush in a solution of
soap and water
b.
Rinse with clean water
c.
Blot dry with towel and paper towel: To prevent
diluting the solutions
d.
Immerse in quart solution (10 minutes)
e.
Take out implements (wear gloves when removing
implements)
o
Take out, rinse, blot dry, store
* Curling iron, pressing
comb:
- Wipe with paper
towel, then heat with heated stove, wait cool, store
+ Electrical implements: Clippers, vibrators, etc.

Remove all foreign matter
b.
All removable parts must be disinfected:
According to step "a" to step "e" showed above for
implements with sharp or non-sharp points
c.
Or use commercially-prepared disinfectant sprays

Notice: - Disinfectant solutions: Must be
changed at least weekly or visible cloudy or dirty
- All disinfectant solutions must be: E.P.A.
(Environmental Protection Agency) registered and possess
bactericidal, fungicide, and virucidal.
