STRAIGHTENING SODIUM HYDROXIDE
I. MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENTS:
- Soap and water
- Record card
- Shampoo cape
- Towels
- Comb: regular comb
- Plastic clamps
- Plastic bowl
- Tint brush
- Gloves
- Spatula
- Sanex strip
- Applicator
- Protective base
(take on the counter)
- Sodium hydroxide

II. PROCEDURE:
01. Wash hands
02. Set up table
03. Drape patron:
double drape
04. Examine scalp and
hair
05. Section hair: 4
06. Go to take
protective base
07. Apply protective base: around hairline, over ears
and ears, sections, subsections
08. Sanex strip (cover for protection)
09. Wear gloves
10. Take products:
- Sodium hydroxide
- Stabilizer
11.
Apply product:
- Back
section 1/2" from scalp to the ends
- Scalp
area and the ends
12.
Straight hair: rocking motion
13.
Strand test by hand: press on the scalp
14.
Rinse hair thoroughly, blot dry
15.
Apply stabilizer = fixative
16.
Rinse again, blot dry
17.
Undrape patron
18.
Fill record card
19.
Clean up
20.
Wash hands
